Supervisory Management
The Supervisor as an Inspiring Leader

Introduction

To thrive in the new economy, all supervisors must see themselves not just merely as managers but as leaders and motivators of their respective teams. They must know the difference between being a manager and a leader.

Many people think that leaders are born, a miracle of nature. However, current research clearly indicates that leadership is primarily a set of learned behaviors and skills that distinguish it from the traditional management behaviors of command and control. These behaviors and skills can be performed by anyone willing to learn and apply them. But progressing from manager to leader does require examining assumptions, beliefs, and understandings. This workshop introduces both the belief system that provides a foundation for leadership, and the specific tools and techniques used by outstanding leaders.

This workshop is about how leaders mobilize others to want to get extraordinary things done. It’s about creating a climate in which people turn challenging opportunities into remarkable successes.

The course curriculum is based a scientifically-validated research which span over more than 30 years. It analyes data collected from some 25,000 leaders and 100,000 constituents in public and private sector. This research identifies the FIVE practices that characterize leaders who get extraordinary things done in organizations.
